BCCAT 2009-10 Annual Report The 2009-10 Annual Report is now available online at www.bccat.ca/pubs/ar09-10.pdf. This report provides an overview of the work of the Council throughout the past year, including research highlights and updates on regular and ongoing activities of the Council. Many thanks to all those who participate with the work of the Council as we support and guide students through post-secondary education in BC.

- EducationPlanner.ca: An External Review

EducationPlanner.ca provides a searchable database of approximately 1,700 undergraduate post-secondary programs in B.C. This website is designed to be a "one-start entry point" for students looking for post-secondary options. An independent review of the website, evaluating the sites overall effectiveness, was recently carried out, and the final report has been published. Check it out at bccat.ca/pubs/EPreview.pdf.
- 2008 Admissions & Transfer Experiences: A BC Stats Report

"2008 Admissions and Transfer Experiences of Students Continuing their Post-Secondary Studies in British Columbia" This study profiles the admission and transfer experiences of almost 6,800 students who continued their studies in BC's public post-secondary system after participating at a community college, university college, or institute. - Transfer Student Profile Reports (UNBC and SFU)

BCCAT has just published two transfer student profiles: bccat.ca/pubs/SFUProfile0708.pdf bccat.ca/pubs/UNBCProfile0708.pdf These reports provide detailed demographic information about transfer students entering SFU and UNBC (respectively). Data are provided that indicates the number of transfer students, where they transferred from, number of credits transferred, programs entered, and performance measures after transfer. Academic performance of transfer students is compared to that of students entering directly from high school.
- Best Practice Guide: A Resource for Receiving Institutions

- ABE Student Mobility - New Research

This report is the first of its kind. BCCAT partnered with two education ministries (Education and Advanced Education & Labour Market Development) to conduct the first analysis of student-level data on Adult Basic Education (ABE) students in the secondary and post-secondary systems. The study seeks to improve our understanding of the number of students in both systems, similarities and differences between these two populations, and the nature and extent of mobility between the two systems. - New Policy: BTAs with PCTIA-Accredited Private Institutions

Recording Block Transfer Agreements with PCTIA-Accredited Private Institutions - this new policy establishes guidelines to facilitate the recording of these agreements in the BC Transfer Guide to safeguard their success and, ultimately, to benefit students. - Appointment of New Articulation Coordinator

BCCAT is pleased to announce the appointment of Raili Sharron McIvor to the position of Articulation Coordinator, as of January 7th, 2008. Raili brings to the BCCAT team considerable experience in BC post-secondary education, having worked as an evaluator at the International Credential Evaluation Service and in admissions at Emily Carr Institute.
