COVID-19 & Articulation Committee Meetings
The provincial government and post-secondary institutions have implemented several measures to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus, including moving post-secondary classes online if possible and prohibiting gatherings of more than 50 people. Additionally, several post-secondary institutions have cancelled external events or are requiring approval in advance of any plans for meetings on campuses.
Given these restrictions, and out of consideration for the health and well-being of articulation committee members, please be aware that BCCAT advises against conducting in-person articulation committee meetings at this time.
The following strategies may assist you with maintaining the important ongoing work of articulation committees:
- Postponing in-person meetings until the fall, or until next year.
- Holding the meeting online (please note that BCCAT is not able to provide online conferencing services).
- Collecting institutional reports and posting them on the committee’s Moodle site or other online resource, so that they may be viewed by all members of the committee.
- Addressing any pressing articulation-related matters, as well as any action items from the previous meeting, via email or online discussion.
If an articulation committee does decide to proceed with an in-person meeting, BCCAT expects that the meeting will be conducted following appropriate guidelines to restrict the spread of COVID-19. Information is available through many sources, including the BC Centre for Disease Control. If articulation committee members decide not to attend an in-person meeting because of health concerns, BCCAT also expects that meeting organizers will respect those decisions, and provide alternative methods of participation such as online conferencing for those members.
Thank you for your cooperation. We very much appreciate being kept up to date with your decisions and included in your online conversations. Should you need assistance, please contact us any time at articulation@bccat.ca.
