Leadership Award.

Congratulations to Zena Mitchell, Associate VP, Enrolment Services & Registrar, Kwantlen Polytechnic University!

The Leadership Award recognizes an individual or group for demonstrating exemplary leadership that has had a significant and positive impact on advancing the theory and practice of transfer and articulation within the BC Transfer System. Zena is being acknowledged for her leadership and dedicated and proactive support for learner mobility at Kwantlen and across BC’s post-secondary transfer system.

Check out the videos below for a quick overview of the award presentation, and a brief introduction to Zena.

“Our students are busy. They’re working, they’re parents, they’re care-givers, they’re dealing with so much more in their lives. And, to achieve their goals, they’re often attending multiple institutions at the same time. BCCAT’s always working to grow and expand, and to ensure students make the most of their credits.”

“And–because we have such a robust system–students are saving time and money. They’re able to move around without duplicating credits, and ultimately reach their credential goals sooner which I think is an effective goal for all of us.”

- Zena Mitchell, Associate VP, Enrolment Services & Registrar, Kwantlen Polytechnic University

“Zena is highly regarded across the university… She is viewed as one of the key leaders and is often called upon for advice by the senior leadership team and by the Academic and Deans’ Councils… Zena serves on a variety of university committees and through this work, she highlights admissions and transfer, doing her best to promote student mobility wherever she can.”

- Steve Cardwell, Vice-President, Students, Kwantlen Polytechnic University

“I’ve known Zena for many years and have always admired her commitment to students and their successes. Zena knows that their success includes their mobility and she’s been a supporter of BCCAT and its work for many years.”

- Karen McCredie, Executive Director, EducationPlannerBC

“Zena’s work intersects with all aspects of the university, as keeper of the credential and a supporter of student-led credential pathways. As a key member of the leadership team, Zena is innovative, solutions oriented, and always student centred. Her perspective is vital for student success and the academic life of KPU.”

- Diane Purvey, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Chair of Deans Council, Kwantlen Polytechnic University

“Zena has a lot to offer in terms of wisdom. It’s not just experience that she brings to the table, but a great sense of wisdom.”

- Paul Campo, Registrar, College of New Caledonia
