Career Opportunity

BCCAT is seeking an experienced professional for the role of Pathways Coordinator. The position requires broad knowledge of BC’s post-secondary system, understanding of program and curricular structures, and the BC Transfer System. In addition to supporting and operationalizing information technology initiatives and development, the Pathways Coordinator will undertake related analysis, business process reviews, and actively engage with system partners to support transfer and technology related work at BCCAT. This is fixed term appointment for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal. For those currently employed at BC Transfer System member institution, secondments can be considered. The position reports to the Associate Director, Member Services & Engagement and is a grade 5 position, salary range is $69,800-$91,700.

Job Description

Mandate

BCCAT provides an integral link between BC post‐secondary institutions, education ministries, and public and private education sectors. Its mandate is to facilitate admission, articulation, and transfer arrangements among BC Transfer System member institutions, as well as to conduct research on student and credit mobility. To fulfill its mandate, the Council engages in the following activities:

  • encouraging institutions to develop policies and practices regarding the transferability of
    post-secondary credit;
  • researching issues pertaining to capacity, demand, and student mobility;
  • recommending policies and practices related to the admission processes for direct entry and
    transfer students;
  • facilitating the development of credit transfer arrangements through oversight of
    articulation committees; and,
  • managing online resources to assist institutions in creating transfer agreements and
    supporting students in their education planning.

Prior to his appointment in 2010, Dr. Fleming taught English in several post-secondary institutions & served in senior academic administrative roles. Over his career, he has participated in many provincial, national, international post-secondary initiatives & organizations. His scholarship includes works on literature & composition, curriculum development & review, & post-secondary policy.

Anna Tikina

Dr. Tikina brings strong skills in research and policy analysis, extended experience in teaching and project management in academic settings, and familiarity with institutional research in the B.C. post-secondary system. Anna conducts research, and supports and manages research projects undertaken by external researchers for Council.

Mike is responsible for BCCAT’s transfer and technology initiatives, including BCCAT’s Transfer Credit System and the BC Transfer Guide, and oversees all matters related to transfer and articulation. He is a frequent presenter on best practices in technology and student mobility. He has been with BCCAT since 2004 and has a Masters degree in Leadership from Royal Roads University.

Anabella supports and coordinates the work of the Admissions, Transfer and Articulation (TAC) and Research Committees of Council and the provincial articulation committees. She provides front-facing support for BCCAT’s Transfer Credit System (TCS) working with PSI partners & their credit transfer agreements. Additionally, Anabella supports BCCAT’s ongoing technology and communications projects.

Adina facilitates BCTG student inquiries and oversees BCCAT office operations, including financial reporting and budget-related activities. Her previous work experience includes roles at UBC as an Undergraduate Academic Advisor in the Faculty of Arts and Admissions Coordinator, Undergraduate Admissions. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in French and a B.A. in Specialized Translation.

Joanne is the Manager of the Student Transitions Project (STP), a collaborative system-wide research partnership involving B.C.’s education and advanced education ministries, public post-secondary institutions and BCCAT. Joanne conducts research studies for the STP to  help advance the understanding of student transitions from high school to post-secondary education, student success, student mobility and enrollment trends in the B.C. system.

Jennifer brings her odd assortment of experiences & abilities to manage technology projects that facilitate student, data, & information mobility in BC’s transfer system & across Canada. She works with post-secondary stakeholders to develop systems & technologies that better leverage transfer information to meaningfully empower people to prepare and pursue their life goals wherever they reside.

Irene came to BCCAT with a background in academic advising. At BCCAT, she facilitates the development of BCCAT’s program pathway project and supports info research and analysis. She works with post-secondary stakeholders to identify solutions that help enhance the transparency of program pathway opportunities within BC. Irene has a BA and a MPA degree. As an advocate for education, she thrives to serve the diverse needs of post-secondary learners.

Dr. McQuarrie conducts BCCAT research projects commissioned by the Transfer and Articulation Committee. She also supports work on BCCAT research projects commissioned by the Admissions and Research Committees, in addition to participating in other BCCAT initiatives and activities. Dr. McQuarrie is Professor Emerita in the School of Business at the University of the Fraser Valley.

Elle conducts and oversees BCCAT research projects, and supports policy initiatives and the work of the Council and its committees. Previously, she served in a variety of roles within the BC post-secondary ecosystem, including Education Council Chair and Research Ethics Board (REB) Chair at Vancouver Community College. Her engagement with diverse projects, ideas, and organizations complements her zeal for meaningful knowledge mobilization.

Valerie joined the BCCAT team in 2002 shortly after returning to Canada from Durham, England where she obtained her BA and MA degrees. Her experience (both as a student, and as a university employee) ignited a growing interest in the field of education. As BCCAT’s Communications Officer, she oversees the development and distribution of publications and resources, including corporate and promotional pieces. A key component of her role is outreach and engagement, informing system partners and stakeholders.
